The Kilauea Lighthouse is on the north side of Kauai, but still east of Princeville. My mom used to talk about the red boobies and the blue boobies, she got a kick out of their names. [nggallery id=7]

Today’s stop on the Kauai Tour is near the Pineapple Dump. If you’ve never heard of it before, and that may well be the case, the Pineapple Dump is a structure that was originally built by the Hawaiian Pineapple Canning Company to allow them to dump the scraps leftover from the canning process. Although it’s been a while since we were here, I’m pretty sure this is Opaeka’a Falls on Kauai’s east side. It’s one of those lovely places where you can park and see ocean in one direction, waterfalls in the other.

Today I’ll be starting a little virtual tour of Kauai in celebration of the upcoming release of my new McKenna Mystery “Kauai Temptations.” Let’s begin on the south side at Salt Pond Park. If you’ve never been there, it’s located right near Kauai’s “biggest little town” Hanapepe.
