The Kauai coastline just north and west of Kapaa has a beauty all its own. This section is a beautiful place to walk or just hang out and watch the shore. Digging back through my photos from our 2015 trip to Kauai, I discovered this Lydgate Park Heiau. This covers part of the Hikinaakala Heiau, a sacred area that was once much more built-up. Sadly, when the Hawaiian religion was abolished in the late 1800s, the rocks were torn out and used for roads. This is all that remains.
