Return to Thurston Lava Tube
I posted another picture of the Thurston Lava Tube a few weeks ago. This shot was taken toward the end of the tube. The stair are visible, along with people who had been ahead of us. Inside the tube, it’s lit well enough to be able to see where you’re going, but not so bright as to make everything visible. It’s an eerie feeling being inside a tube of lava, watching water seep through the walls or from the roof. The lava tube is a popular destination, and tourists come from all over the world to see it and the rest of the magnificent Volcanos National Park.
