“The Dragon God” is the second book in San Diego author Brae Wyckoff’s Horn Kings series. This book picks up with the protagonists discovering a new threat to the realm. While Raina teleports the Dwarf King El’Korr and a group of dwarves to the West Horn King’s capital city, Bridazak and his friends search for the parents of Spilf.
The story alternates between the two groups, with one chapter dedicated to Raina’s quest and the other to Bridazak’s. As the story progresses, it becomes apparent that the two groups may eventually meet up for a final battle.
This entertaining tale involves dwarves, elves, humans, and goblins as well as Ordakians, a race reminiscent of hobbits. The ultimate threat in “The Dragon God” is a dragon with five heads and the power to destroy the world as the races know it. Only cunning, strength, and faith can help the heroes to survive, but will it be enough?
With little graphic violence and a strong message of faith, this fantasy novel is well-suited to Young Adult and Christian readers.
