Hawaii golden shower tree rains blossoms
If you’re near a Hawaii Golden Shower tree when it drops its blossoms, you’ll understand how this tree got its name. We found one at Foster Botanic Garden that was raining golden blossoms. It looked like large yellow snowflakes were falling from the sky. What you see here is just one small section of ground as an example.
The Golden Shower tree is actually native to Southern Asia. It grows to 10-20 meters (up to about 66 feet high). I also discovered that the seeds of the tree are poisonous. (That reminds me of the 60s folk song ‘Lemon Tree.’ If you don’t know the song, lucky you. It’s a catchy tune that will stick in your head for a while. If you do know it, well, sorry about that!) You can learn more about the Golden Shower tree here.
Did you catch last week’s photo of the Rainbow Eucalyptus bark? It’s another beautiful tree we found during our trip to the gardens.
