In the spirit of making new holiday traditions, we’re heading to the San Diego Parade of Lights for the first time! Imagine over 80 boats shimmering and sparkling with holiday lights, sailing along the beautiful San Diego Bay. Today’s puzzle was inspired by what promises to be a very colorful evening.

How the Parade of Lights began
The San Diego Parade of Lights has been lighting up the holiday season in San Diego for over 53 years. Each year, the parade draws nearly 100,000 spectators, making it a major event in San Diego’s holiday calendar.
This dazzling spectacle was born out of a long-standing tradition that dates back to 1907, started by John Scarpa in Newport Beach. Scarpa was definitely making new holiday traditions when he took a group of visitors from Pasadena across the bay in a gondola adorned with Japanese lanterns. Over time, this evolved into the festive boat parades we see today, with boats decked out in holiday lights and decor, sailing along waterways during the season.
Boat parades around the world
Boat parades have become a global phenomenon with similar events taking place in numerous locations across the United States, Canada, Australia, the United Kingdom, and the Netherlands. But there’s something special about the San Diego Parade of Lights, and we can’t wait to see it firsthand.
In the spirit of creativity and to enhance your puzzle-solving experience, I’m using artwork inspired by the San Diego Parade of Lights for this week’s jigsaw puzzle instead of traditional photos. This artistic interpretation allows for more vibrant colors, intricate details, and a unique perspective, making your puzzle time even more enjoyable and immersive!
I’m so excited to experience the San Diego Parade of Lights for the first time. I hope you’ll also be able to make some new holiday traditions of your own this holiday season and share joy. Whether you’re visiting a local parade or just decorating your home, let’s light up this holiday season together!
