I love visiting Buena Vista Park. It’s an oasis of serenity in the middle of a busy residential and commercial area. No matter what’s happening in the world, this park is always a sanctuary where the craziness stops and nature is in charge. The tortoise and the egret are a perfect example of how to slow down and take life in stride.

Photo of the Week – The tortoise and the egret
I admit that my play on the tortoise and the hare is weak, but these two look like they’re both enjoying the water in their own ways. I’d seen the egrets along the banks of the pond before, but I’d never seen the turtle. I’m now wondering if he was dumped by someone who thought they wanted a pet and then changed their mind. I hope not, but he does seem to be getting along quite nicely.
Did you see last week’s entry? You can find it at Red gazebo on the Big Island. Click here to view more Friday Morning Post entries, or you can follow me on Twitter.
