Rainbow Eucalyptus bark is a stunning display of color
The first time we saw a Rainbow Eucalyptus was on the Road to Hana. The trees were in a stand about a hundred yards from the road where our bus let us off to take a few photos. Even from that distance, we could tell the trees were something special.
During our visit to Foster Botanical Garden, we came across #17, the Rainbow Eucalyptus tree on display. This time, we were within several feet of the tree. It was easy to see how thin the bark is and how the color variations, which appear to be random, are sometimes intense and at other times subdued. The tree only grows in warm, humid environments such as Hawaii, parts of Southern California, Texas, and Florida.
