Massive gong at Byodo-In Temple
While we were at the Byodo-In Temple, we often heard a deep, melodic tone. This was the source and any visitor can give it a try!

This is a photo of the Bell House, which is called kanetru-ki-do. According to Byodo-In.com, it “contains a five foot high, three ton brass bell, called bon-sho (sacred bell), cast in Osaka, Japan, from a mixture of bronze and tin, by permission of the government of Japan.” Ringing the bell is much harder the you might think!
