Melodic tones from the Byodo-In Temple Sacred Bell

Oh, yeah, this was fun. Test your skills on the Sacred Bell if you ever get to Byodo-In Temple. It’s not as easy as just giving the wooden log (a shu-moku) a push. The bell itself is called a bon-sho and is housed in a bell house, which is called kanetru-ki-do. The bell is five feet high and weighs at three tons. It’s made from a mixture of bronze and tin and was cast with the permission of the Japanese government. According to the Byodo-in Temple website, the original bell is more than 900 years old. The tones coming from the bell (when properly struck) create a feeling of tranquility throughout the grounds.
