Looking east from the Halona Blowhole
We’d heard the Halona Blowhole was something great to see. A Do Not Miss while on O‘ahu. That might be true if you’re there at high tide. We were unfortunate enough to be at the blowhole during low tide. It’s the only reason I can think of for the lack of activity. Having seen Kauai’s Spouting Horn on many occasions, I was disappointed when there wasn’t a big plume. Ah well, maybe next time…
However, even though the blowhole wasn’t doing much, the surrounding views did meet our expectations. Here’s just one example of those beautiful blue waters and sandy shores. As you can see, Sandy Beach is not far away. If you want to see what the view looks like from the opposite direction, check out my Sandy Beach photo from a few weeks ago.

Dear Terry,
Have you heard of or read of NTHE? In addition, do you know what this acronym NTHE means? Do you know the definitions* and meanings* of the words “prosody” and/or “kinesics” and the importance of an understanding of their use in communication for both “truth tellers” as well as “liars” (such as scammers and too many politicians … this distinction just made between “scammers” and “politicians” really represents an example of redundancy)?
The written word such as used on blogs, within emails, etc., remain relatively worth very little compared to oral/aural feed-back communication’s loops in a telephone conversation. by-and-large. with respect to prosody itself.
If you really care to learn more from me then privately you can exchange phone numbers with me and we’ll then at least have the opportunity to allow prosody to come into play and we may both learn from each other.
“Your decision.”

Please do not publish the email address I below give you. I receive far too much “junk” already.
* The words: “definitions” and “meanings” in the terms of Alfred Korzybski’s General Semantics, (two quite different things of importance to distinguish in human communication.)

Looked like a good day for snorkeling.
Next, go when the tide is changing. That’s when it is most impressive. But don’t stand too close!

Hi Cecelia, unfortunately, we had only one day and one time that we could make it. I was surprised because Spouting Horn on Kaua‘i is always active, though better at times due to the tides. I’m guessing that when the tides come in, Halona is very impressive.

Well, I always enjoy your blog and photos, no matter where you go!
