The first close up you see when arriving at the Big Island’s Jacaranda Inn is their welcoming lanai. It is one of the many features about this lovely old inn that is reminiscent of an era long gone. I didn’t measure the distance, but the lanai is between eight-to-ten feet deep.
The lanai, however, is just the beginning. Inside, there are hardwood floors throughout, period furniture, and a great deal of memorabilia. In many ways, staying here is like staying in a museum. I think it was on our second day when I went wandering and discovered the library and an old restaurant booth in an alcove. You see, in one of its incarnations, the inn was also a restaurant.
