When Hurricane Iniki struck in 1992, thousands of chickens around the island of Kauai were inadvertently released from their cages. Birds that had once been a source of food suddenly became a source of aggravation. Over the years their numbers have grown and chickens now, in a sense, rule the roost on Kauai. Fortunately, there are also plenty of other feathered friends on Kauai. Many of those used to be found right on the lagoons at our condo. The majority of our ducks, geese, and other web-footed friends are gone, but their pictures remain. So here’s a set of photos from the past. Let’s just call it, For the Birds.
By the way, I’m always on the lookout for good Hawaii photos. If you have some you’d like to share, let me know and we’ll talk about featuring your shots on Friday Fotos!
