I was tagged by Author K-Trina Meador for the 7 Writer Challenge, so here it goes:
The rules: Go to either page 7 or page 77 and starting with line 7, post the next 7 lines and then challenge 7 others to do the same.
I chose an excerpt from “License to Lie” for my 7 line challenge:
Still, I probably wound up with one of the better ones given how easy it seems to keep men focused on my face while I get them to empty their wallets.
Most people in my business would justifiably scream slander and call one of their attorneys if someone referred to them as a con artist, but the world of investments is full of people better at separating their clients from their money than investing it. The trick is making unsuspecting clients think someone else blew their bundle, not the investor.
I’m challenging the following authors to do the same:
Dana Marton
Nancy Cohen
Karla Darcy
Brae Wyckoff
Cassi Carver
Sally Carpenter
Lorna Collins

I chose an excerpt from “The Scandalous Ward”:
“Well done, my dear,” Nell praised the wan looking girl as they waited for the carriage. “It seems we have all scraped through with reputations intact. The old tabbies have decided to accept your marriage despite its unconventionality.”
“Thank you so much for your support, Aunt Nell.” Leslie found her eyes once more awash as she squeezed the older woman’s hand.
“It’s a good lesson, my girl. Society hates little niggling sins. The larger the offense, the more easily forgiven. I think the world appreciates naughtiness with a flair.”

Of course…
“Let me go. He’s coming. Can’t you feel it?” Her eyes went wide and wild, and her struggling increased.
The Tracker barreled toward them from the dark recesses of her dreaming mind, and Jaden translocated them away. He cursed his inability to change her dream parameters with the Tracker fully engaged on his prey. If Jaden was older, he would be unparalleled in this realm. He would be able to evict the Tracker from her dream and even to wake Rachel from dreamtime to protect her.
PAGE 7 of DREAM WALK
“To protect her from harm or to keep Gart busy while Rachel works?” Either way, it was a good idea.
Borgal’s look was one that usually sent errant young mages scurrying. “That rogue touches my mate, and I will chop him in eighths and feed him to Louisiana gators personally.”
It took a moment for the shock of that statement to wear off. When it did, Jaden smiled. “I am heartened that I wasn’t similarly dispatched.”

Dana Marton says
She made no sound save for tapping the brush on the palette from time to time. More shapes took form; objects materialized out of color alone. The interior of a dark, confined place took up most of the canvas. Clothes hung above a pile of boxes on the floor. Low in the corner, stroke by stroke, a human form appeared.
“Who is that?”…
“Someone who can’t be saved.”
Brae Wyckoff says
Oh, it is ON birthday boy! I accept your challenge…

Besides, you should be grateful that I’m willing to schmooze with
him on my own time.” I wasn’t going to let Max get away with making it
sound like I’d been fooling around all afternoon. True, I’d had a pretty good
time, but I did it for him and his precious manuscript.
“It certainly appeared to be flirting to me. And why was it necessary to
squander the entire day when you could have been more productively
occupied?”
