The Case of the Amorous Assailant
“Ambrose’s mystery is thrilling and unpredictable…An entertaining and suspenseful detective tale.” — Kirkus Reviews
New PI Jade Cavendish’s investigation into a cheating husband takes a bizarre turn when she uncovers a plot to commit murder.
A masked man called the Amorous Assailant has been frustrating police for months. The man binds his victims with red silk, kisses them, and leaves them with a red rose. Three victims later, women throughout the city are worried that they’ll be next.
New PI Jade Cavendish just inherited the Beachtown Detective Agency. She’s not concerned about the Amorous Assailant. What she needs is a paying client. She’d settle for a dognapping.
Jade can’t believe her luck when Gina Rose, a newly married young heiress, walks in the door. Gina wants to prove her husband, Bert, is defrauding her. During Jade’s surveillance, she unexpectedly witnesses the start of the fourth Amorous Assailant attack. She chases off the attacker and identifies him as Gina’s husband.
Gina posts Bert’s bail after his arrest, but when he’s murdered hours later, she becomes their prime suspect. Jade’s not giving up on her secretive client and believes the Amorous Assailant attacks are the key to finding Bert’s killer. But then Jade uncovers another secret. The Amorous Assailant attacks may have been a smokescreen for something far more deadly.
