Lights, Camera, Ocean! Sounds like a dream, doesn’t it? Well, it isn’t, but in a way, it felt like one. We had a perfect day to visit California’s majestic coast, where we explored the grounds of this historical lighthouse. Sadly, this one was endangered for a long time, but thanks to the efforts of dedicated volunteers, restoration isn’t far away! Today’s Pigeon Point Lighthouse jigsaw puzzle was inspired by that visit.

Pigeon Point Lighthouse history
Pigeon Point Lighthouse, one of the tallest lighthouses in America, stands as a beacon of history and stunning views. It was first lit on November 15, 1872, and has since held the torch high for navigating ships. Imagine looking at the Pacific Ocean through the lens of this 115-foot tall lighthouse – waves crashing, whales breaching, and the sunset painting the sky in a myriad of colors.
The lighthouse is named after the clipper ship Carrier Pigeon, which, in an ironic twist of fate, crashed near this very point in 1853. Today, the lighthouse is a symbol of resilience, standing tall despite the ravages of time and countless Pacific storms. With funding finally achieved to begin restoration, the beginning of a new chapter isn’t far behind.
The surrounding area is also a treat to the senses. While much of it was shrouded in fog on the day we visited, we still were able to take in breathtaking views of the Pacific Ocean, Pigeon Point is a picture-perfect spot for those unforgettable family photos or that perfect Instagram snap!
What a day, right? There’s something incredibly soothing about the combination of history, the sea, and scenic beauty. This California State Park delivers on all counts. 10:22 for me. Love lighthouses and their history. My sister and I used to do road trips when we could get together.’
Our goal was to visit every covered bridge and light house we could find and learn the history behind it. When we
lived at home. Between 9 and 17. MOst every summer the family would visit ‘ghost towns’ for the history and fun.
Often camping nearby to explore the areas when allowed.

7:21 Now you are venturing into my part of the state. I love the California North Coast, but don’t try to swim in the ocean. Too many riptides, and it is COLD water.
Thanks as always for the online jigsaw to solve.

We used to live in the Bay Area, so I know what you mean! It’s beautiful, but you’ve got to be brave to test the waters!
