A celebration of light
My goal was to capture the moon setting behind the Encina Power Plant. I was up at 5am and out the door right on time. But on my way, I started noticing a dark spot along the horizon out on the ocean. My next thought was that there was fog and I would miss the shot.
Unfortunately, this was as close as I could get to what I wanted. You can see the dark line of the fog at the bottom of the photo, and once the moon was in the exact spot I wanted, just over the horizon and behind the stack at the power plant, it was hidden. Now, I have to wait for the next time the moon lines up at sunrise.
I chose to process the photo in black-and-white to bring out the lighting contrast between the moon and the foreground.
