Planning can’t beat pure luck. And that’s exactly what we stumbled upon when I captured this incredible shot of the clouds parting to reveal the majestic High Peaks. The view was even more breathtaking because fog surrounded us all morning.

Photo of the Week
This photo was taken on the Prewett Point Trail, a super easy one-mile round trip with a slight 82-foot climb. It’s the easiest trail in the park and usually the first thing visitors do when they arrive. But lucky for us, we decided to flip the script. We went to the furthest destination first and then made our way back. If we had followed the usual order like most visitors do, we would’ve missed out on this epic High Peaks reveal at Pinnacles National Park.
The Prewett Point Trail is the park’s newest and most visitor-friendly trail. It’s well-maintained, has educational signs along the way, and even a few benches to rest your tired legs. The views are absolutely stunning, including this one of the High Peaks. To start the trail, head over to the visitor center. We heard stories about the parking lot filling up early in the day, but since we were there during the off-season and surrounded by fog, the lot was practically empty when we arrived.
