The peacocks at Leo Carrillo Ranch have quite the reputation here in North San Diego County. They tend to be bold, and this one was a bit of a showoff, too. He doesn’t know it, but he’s my photo of the week and the main attraction in this peacock train jigsaw puzzle! (You can also play the puzzle on Jigsaw Planet.)
By the way, if you work the puzzle and leave a comment that includes how long it took to finish, you’ll be entered into a drawing for a $5.00 Starbucks gift card at the end of the month. I’ll also announce the average and best times in next week’s newsletter. So, come on! Jump in and play! (My time was 27:03. I’m sure you can do better!)

Photo of the Week – Peacock showing off his train
This is what your puzzle should look like when you finish! Beautiful, isn’t he? As it seems to always go in the world of nature, only the males have those magnificent feathers. The females, or peahens, get to admire them and, presumably, select a mate based on the peafowl version of how ‘buff’ their suitor is. Wouldn’t you know it though, we humans just had to get in on the act by turning peacock into a verb. Yes, it’s perfectly okay to say ‘he peacocks his way across the room.’
Win a $5.00 Starbucks gift card
Entering is simple. Just work this week’s Peacock Train Jigsaw Puzzle and leave a comment that includes your time. At the end of the month, I’ll select a random winner from all of the comments. If I select your comment, you’ll win! (If you liked this puzzle and want to play another, check out last week’s post, California Poppies jigsaw puzzle.

Time 14:57. This was an excellent choice for a puzzle! The intricacies of all the feathers made it quite a challenge! After completing the rim, I found myself selecting the angle of the feathers first and then selecting the shapes that fit within the overall color scheme. Very good!
Terry says
Thanks, Allison. I found it quite a challenge, but fun!

My time was 15:27. Been years since I have done one. Since I joined a rescue my house has half a dozen cats at any given time. I finally gave up and gave the 20 plus boxes to the local senior center and the two assisted living facilities. I had resisted doing them online. Just didn’t seem right. But I could not refuse this one. Love peacocks.
Thank you.
Terry says
Thanks, Della, for joining in. That’s a lot of cats!
