Annabelle Hunter describes herself as a stay-at-home mom and an avid fan of classic mystery shows and dressage. She also says her sense of humor might be a little dark and that she lives in Southern California with her husband, two children, and too many animals.
Annabelle said that Lark started with a funny thought in the gym about how her horse friends wouldn’t react the ‘right’ way if they found a limb outside their door. “All the further plots have been an extension of that. I always go into a book with the goal to just tell a story, but I find that if you tell a good one, thought-provoking subjects will arise naturally.”
In the process of writing, Annabelle researched a number of subjects, which sometimes led to odd discoveries. “The weirdest moment was when I ran across a real demon hunter job advert. I don’t remember what I was don’t looking up, but it was there. And real. And it took me down a rabbit hole as I tried to make sure it was real.”
Annabelle decided she was going to participate in NaNoWriMo this year with a story about the Greek gods. “Do you know what doesn’t go well together? Logic and the Greek pantheon. After too much time spent on the internet, I am reading the translations to make sure I’m not missing things. My NaNoWriMo project is done. And I didn’t need the research. Oops.”
