Onomea Bay calling!
The was supposed to be just a drive into Hilo to run a few errands, but I wanted to take the back road. We had heard the sounds of Onomea Bay calling, but hadn’t heeded the call. The back road trip was perhaps a way to experiment and see if we could stumble across it without going too far out of the way.
First, we came across the Hawai‘i Tropical Botanical Garden. We passed on it due to the amount of time it would have taken to wander through. A short distance down the road, we came to a turnout. We decided to see where all the people were since there were cars, but they were empty. Following the path soon took us to this overlook. At that point we realized we’d found Onomea Bay almost by accident and continued down the trail to the water where it was serene and beautiful.
