Aloha and welcome to this Haleiwa Beach on the island of Oahu. If you’ve been to Hawaii before, you know Oahu is also known as the Gathering Place. Haleiwa is a small town on the north shore. We visited for a day trip in April 2015. In fact, this was the only day during our brief stay when we had a car. We were only on Oahu for a few days but were able to walk or take the bus to wherever we wanted to go. On this particular day, we arrived in Haleiwa thinking we were going to Haleiwa Joe’s for lunch. On our way there, we discovered Pizza Bob’s. They had gluten-free pizza, which was terrific, and now I’m bummed out because Yelp says they’ve closed.
As you can see, the very cool thing about this particular little beach is it’s almost deserted. There’s a playground for the kids (keiki) and a nice walking path. Lots of grass. Smooth sand. This is a real winner for a picnic or just a place to hang out. After all, Haleiwa has a lot of traffic at times and it can take some mental prep time to deal with it. Who would’ve thought such a little town could have so much traffic!
