Do you remember back to the days of the first iPhones? Apple had a commercial touting all of the apps available on the App Store. The commercial featured a catch marketing tagline, “There’s an app for that.” Guess what? The FBI can now say the same thing about catching bank robbers. They’ve just released a free mobile Bank Robbers app.
On August 19, the FBI announced the release of the Bank Robbers mobile app. The announcement included a statement from Gregory Adams of the FBI Violent Crimes Unit. “Our new Bank Robbers mobile app is another tool we can use to help mitigate … suspects who pose the greatest safety threats to the public.”
The FBI released the app so they could let more people know about dangerous criminals quickly and easily. The app lets members of the public know about the criminals, but it also keeps bank employees and law enforcement apprised of the latest news. The app includes photos and information about bank robberies in different geographic areas of the country.
According to the press release, the app lets users sort bank robberies by various criteria. Crimes can be sorted by the date they occurred, category, the FBI field office handling the case, or the state where the robbery occurred. The Bank Robbers app even allows users to view a map showing bank robberies in their own geographic area.
Using the app, you can access surveillance photos, a physical description, robbery details, and the FBI’s wanted poster for each suspect. You can also select notifications. This lets you stay informed when a bank robbery takes place near your location.
The free app works in conjunction with the FBI website BankRobbers.fbi.gov. The Bank Robbers app works on IOS devices as well as Android. It is available from the Apple App Store and on Google Play. All I can say is, congrats FBI. You’re taking Apple’s old iPhone marketing line of “there’s an app for that” to new heights.
