National Bankruptcy Services, LLC became the latest target of an email scam in a campaign that began on Oct. 7. The emails have caused the Dallas bankruptcy services firm to begin investigation into the source of the campaign.
The email, which was received on Oct. 7 at 7:37 a.m., PDT, reads as follows:
Please see the attached Iolta report for 4235-6798.
We received a check request in the amount of $19,107.77 for the above referenced file. However, the attached report reflects a $0 balance. At your earliest convenience, please advise how this request is to be funded.
The company reports that emails were sent at various times. Upon investigation, it appears that the email originated from a server in Tivka, Israel. If you receive this email or one of a similar nature, do not click on the attached file or any links within the email. Most recipients can simply ignore the email. However, for those wanting to confirm that it is not legitimate, take these steps.
• Search for the company on the internet.
• Find a good phone number from their website.
• Call that number, not the number provided in the email.
