Tonight, Mysterious Galaxy will be holding its last author event of the year. While it’s sad that there won’t be anything else happening for a couple of weeks, they are closing out with one of the hottest genres out there, teen-paranormal fiction authors Kami Garcia and Margaret Stohl. Why is teen paranormal fiction so popular? I’m not sure. I asked my niece, who is a fan of the genre, and her answer pretty much comes down to the genre being a great escape. Perhaps it’s a way to get away from the real-world terrors that we hear about way too often. Maybe it’s just a replacement for the 50s Westerns. I’m not really sure, but am glad for one thing—it does get the kids to read. So, rock on you writers of teen-paranormal fiction. You’ve got a great audience to play to!
