On The Walk this morning, we saw dolphins. They came in nice and close to shore and made it easy for us to spot them. It was a small school, but watching them was so cool.
How’s this for a beautiful beach? We decided to go boogie boarding (or body boarding) and had heard the Kealia Beach was a great place to go. We’d also heard that the waves at Kealia can get ferocious and “drill you into the sand.” Okay, that’s intimidating for a couple of beginners.
Well, we went. We had fun. In fact, it was really fun to watch Kathy get dumped and go under while her board went straight up. Of course, she probably had just as much fun when she got to watch my board go straight in the air. Yes, I met my match. And it was a wave. After getting shoved under, the wise thing to do seemed to be getting above water. That, of course, was easier said than done. That necessitated letting go of the board. . .and figuring out which way was up. The bottom line is that the wave won that one, I lost. But, I went back out and rode a few more after that. We had a blast and want to go back.
The nice thing about Kealia is that it has a sandy bottom, not a lot of rocks, so you don’t need reef walker shoes like some of the other beaches. All you need is a board and the willingness to get thrown around by the waves. But, when you get that ride it’s all worth it!
This afternoon was devoted to doing some of our “condo work.” Well, not actually work yet, we needed to get a quote on some plumbing repairs and buy a few things for the condo. The bad news is that it’s time to get busy. We’ve got a lot to do and need to get busy or else we won’t be ready to leave on time. . .on second thought, there’s always Kealia.
