Oh, my gosh, it’s been a week. Where did the time go? First thing this morning, we did our four mile beach walk and came across a Hawaiian monk seal. He was just a little guy, but looked pretty content to just lay on the beach and let all those yummy fish in his stomach digest.
This afternoon, we were leaving to go snorkel when Kathy noticed that the right front tire of our car (as yet, unnamed) had a tire that was going flat. Off we went to the gas station. We only had a quarter tank in the car, but at the gas station I told the attendant I wanted 5 gallons of gas and air in the front right tire. He told me, “Sorry sir, our air’s not working today.”
Huh? Today? What about yesterday? Or tomorrow? I said, “Sorry, but I need the air more than I need the gas.” We left and headed off to Island Cars, hoping to make it before the tire went completely flat. As it turns out, we’d hit a nail. A few minutes later, they had our little Camry ready to run once again. One of these days, I’ll have to get gas, but not in Hanamaulu.
Back on track and only an hour behind, we went to Lydgate Park. We donned our gear and snorkeled the swimming area, where there were lots of fish, a fair number of people and no waves, currents or other hazards to deal with.
We saw butterfly fishes, bonefishes, damselfishes and more. It was a great snorkel for a first time out. Tomorrow, we’re heading for the North Shore looking for more!
