If you’ve been following along, you’ve heard a lot about the fan we just installed. . .well, that saga continues, but later. For now, let’s talk about the fun stuff. We decided that we needed a snorkeling trip. Since waves on the North Shore were 3 – 6 feet, that was out. Time to go to Poipu.
Poipu snorkeling is usually mediocre. There are a lot of people and you wind up seeing more people than fish. Well, not today. There were a lot of folks, but there were areas where the water was clear and there were LOTS of fish. During the last part of our snorkel, we went to the edge of the breakwater and that’s where we found a huge assortment of fish. Unfortunately, the people showed up shortly thereafter, but we had it to ourselves for a few minutes.
On to Spouting Horn. There were three, count ’em three, tour buses at Spouting Horn. We knew immediately what that meant: cruise ship in port! We found a picnic table and were able to eat our apples with only a small bit of pestering from, who else, the chickens. In any case, check out the Spouting Horn eruption in the video. Also, if the quality of the video is poor, reduce the size of your video player just like you would a window (grab the corner and drag it).
Okay, so about that fan. I called Hunter the other day. They say, buy part number blah, blah. I did. What they didn’t tell me is that several months ago, they changed the part so that it works with compact fluorescent bulbs. The problem is that it takes months to get stuff here from the mainland because it comes by container ship. It’s the proverbial “slow boat,” but it ain’t going to China. So, once again, I had to return the part I bought. When I called Hunter AGAIN, that’s when they told me about changing the part a few months ago. At that, I asked, “Why in the world would you leave the part number the same?” The rep didn’t have a good answer. All I know is that if you go to buy the part and you ask for the right number, you might not get the right part. Sheesh. Talk about needing inventory management lessons!
