Friday Fotos – ferns growing out of trees…say what?

May 11, 2018 By Terry

Ferns growing out of trees

Fern growing out of tree at Volcanos National Park
Found along the trail to Thurston Lava Tube at Volcanos National Park, this fern has attached itself to a tree stump.

One of the really cool things about a rain forest is where the plants grow. As we walked along the path to the Thurston Lava Tube, all we had to do was look around to see how easily ferns and other plants take root in almost thin air. Very cool place (no pun intended) to be amazed—assuming you’re in the neighborhood!

From the Big Island archives

Big Island coastline from the air
Here’s a shot taken during our helicopter tour of the Big Island last March. What a gorgeous green coastline!
Getting late in the day, but we couldn’t wait for sunset and had to leave the north side of the Big Island…

Another shot of this magnificent volcano…
Reflections at Liliuokalani Gardens 2
Liluokalani Gardens in Hilo offer a wonderful place to watch the reflections and to reflect.
Creek at Liliuokalani Park in Hilo
I loved this little creek in the middle of Liliuolkalani Park. It was such pretty spot!

About Terry

I started out as a skip tracer. Just in case you don’t know, that’s the guy who finds the people who don’t want to be found. It was the little things—getting paid to lie—that made skip tracing the fun part of the job.

Those years of chasing deadbeats taught me many valuable life lessons, such as liars come from all walks of life, and always keep your car in the garage.
