Welcome to the final Friday Morning Post of January. This week, I’m joining in on the celebration of the Lunar New Year by exploring the legend of Nian. What? You’ve never heard of Nian? I’m not surprised. But trust me, this mythical creature is the reason why red is such an important color for Chinese New Year celebrations and how bamboo stalks have become a symbol of good luck. So sit back, relax, and prepare to be dazzled by the origins of one of the world’s most popular holidays!
Whether you breezed through last week’s puzzle or took your time, last week’s puzzle was tougher than some of the others. It took me a not-so-impressive 19 minutes and 27 seconds to finish that doozy. In contrast, the fastest time was 6 minutes and 11 seconds, and the average 10 minutes and 43 seconds. I hope you enjoyed last week’s bit of Hawaiian history as well as the puzzle—even if you had a pesky cat competing for your attention!
