This has been a bit of a hectic week for me. I’ve been gearing up to make a few final changes to the website while continuing to write, take new photos, and keep up with the holidays. Here’s this week’s photo recap, including my favorite for the week. I hope you enjoy viewing as much as I enjoyed taking these! Feel free to let me know which ones are your favorites! By the way, you can click any of the photos to view them all in a larger format.
Photo of the week
This shot of the candle is, hands down, my favorite of the week. I wanted the main focus to be on the candle, but also was trying for blurred lights in the background. The candle is actually atop a rather ugly reindeer holder with antlers that go about halfway up the candle. By cropping those out, the shot took on an entirely new appearance. I think it’s far more elegant!

So why did I take a picture of graffiti on a fire hydrant? Better yet, why did I include it in this photo recap? I’m not exactly sure. Other than I kind of looked at it as a form of street art. It’s not great art, but someone took the time to pull out their marking pen (or whatever you use to write graffiti) and scrawl in that one little area. This hydrant was in Escondido, where I was looking for the unusual in a very normal neighborhood.
