How to avoid home repair scams
October 2024
If you've been reading my scam tips for any length of time at all, you've probably realized that I really hate scammers—especially because they prey on people during their most difficult times. This month, I decided to focus on home repair scams (a subject I've covered before) because I hope that at least some of those people who were affected by Hurricane Helene will be a little better prepared for the bad guys who will be swarming them to steal their money. So, if you know someone who was affected by the hurricane, please pass this newsletter along. You might help them avoid making a terrible mistake.

Tallowed Ground by Valona Jones
New Release Valona Jones

A string of seemingly unrelated murders near Savannah’s historic Bonaventure Cemetery has cops questioning candlemaker-turned-amateur-sleuth Tabby Winslow. Diane A.S. Stuckart, NYT bestselling author of cozy mysteries, said of Tallowed Ground, “Valona Jones deftly weaves mystery with the supernatural for a satisfying and surprising read.”

Writing News

I've finally completed most of the edits for the second Beachtown Detective Agency Mystery. I won't go into why this book took so long, but I will say there's been a LOT going on around here almost all year. While that situation won't change for about a year, I at least feel like I'm moving forward slightly. In any case, The Case of the Beguiling Brooch will be released on November 19. I hope you love it!
