Scam Tip

If you’ve bought a “smart device” for your home, you could be helping hackers around the world. The problem began when the first smart devices failed to provide a way to change their default passwords.

When the news broke that these devices could be hacked on a massive scale and used in phishing scams, the manufactures slowly made changes to enhance the security of future devices sold.

Those changes only affected future devices, which means millions of devices with default passwords are in use around the world and many are being used on networks for—shall we say, less than honorable purposes. So you have the picture, right?

The Dish

The original recipe for this southwestern turkey salad came from a cookbook called Today’s Turkey Favorites which we sent away for in 1990. This book was only thirty-five pages long, but it contained a number of good recipes. “Today” is always a relative term because the original recipe is now nearly thirty years old. However, with a few little additions, this recipe is better than ever!

Writing News

The big news of the month came for me when Sidney Powell’s nonfiction book, Licensed to Lie: Exposing Corruption in the Department of Justice, went into hardcover—and sold off the charts. Oddly enough, sales of my thriller titled License to Lie, which was published in 2013, took off. Okay, my sales are nowhere close to what Powell’s must be, but it goes to show the power of exposure.

I’m currently working through edits of the Seaside Cove Christmas mystery. It needs a title and I’m hoping you’ll enter the contest to help me decide.
